Alaska under alert over risk of frostbite in under a minute

Residents of Alaska are under alert over “danger of frostbite in under a minute”, according to meteorologists. Temperatures have dropped up to -30ºC, in one history’s coldest years.

Meteorologists warn that the intense cold could extend until Thursday, plunging to -40ºC. Temperatures are 20 degrees below the average during this time of the year. “The cold takes your breath away,” said an Alaskan resident.
