Guantanamo transfers five detainees to United Arab Emirates

The transfer is the first to the UAE. Washington thanked the United Arab Emirates “for their effort and support to the United States to close down Guantanamo.” 107 detainees remain in the detention facility.

The U.S. announced the transfer of five Yemeni detainees held in Guantanamo for almost 14 years to the United Arab Emirates. Other 17 transfer propositions are being processed.
