In 2014, ISIL took over Sinjar apprehending thousand of members of the Yazidi religious minority. The youngest women were used as sexual slaves, the rest were executed. The graves show the atrocities committed by ISIL to the Yazidi people.
Kurdish forces have discovered two mass graves in the Iraqu town of Sinjar. The first grave contained the bodies of 78 elderly women, the second had 50 to 60 skeletons of men, women, and children.
