Pope calls for dialogue between religions to protect themselves from Islamic extremists

In his first full day in Africa, the pontiff emphasized that religion can never be used to justify violence and regretted that «too often young people are being radicalized in the name of religion to sow discord and fear, and to tear the very fabric of our societies.» Pope Francis urged religious leaders to be «prophets» of peace in a world where hatred is sown. On Friday, he will leave for Uganda for the second part of his first African pilgrimage.
