Crimea without power after electricity pylons were dynamited

Klintsévich Franz, deputy chairman of the Defense and Security Council of the Russian Federation, says that it is «a real terrorist act.» Authorities have put up mobile power generators in different parts of the peninsula. Crimea depends a 70 percent of Ukraine’s electricity. Later this year, Russia plans to launch the first power line to the mainland from its territory.

Authorities have declared a state of emergency after 1.9 million Crimean citizens were left without electricity. Strangers have dynamited the only pylons located south of Ukraine that supply power to the peninsula.
