Obama and Putin reach agreement over “transition in Syria” but differ on war
Russian spokesmen say differences on how to fight against terrorism haven’t been settled. While Putin believes it is necessary to support Assad, Obama insists on fighting against the Jihadists without making deals with the Syrian regime.
At a meeting on the sidelines of the G20, Obama and Putin agree on a “political transition” in Syria with the UN as mediator between the opposition and Assad after a cease-fire. Obama turned down Putin’s proposal of a united front against the Islamic State.
