Over 100 books on Jihadism confiscated in Algiers Book Fair

Last week, during the 20^th Algiers Book Fair over a hundred books on Jihadism and the Arab Spring were confiscated. The fair attracts thousands of visitors and has become one of the main cultural events of the country.

Algeria continues to be one of the few Arab countries that are on the sidelines of the Islamist radicalization of its neighbors. The fair’s organization immediately reacted, but the ban evidences the cultural and social challenges the country will face in the following months.
