One of the last northern white rhinos dies

Nola was one of the popular attractions at the San Diego Safari Park Zoo. The rhino had arthritis and was treated for a bacterial infection related to an abscess on her hip. She was operated on November 13, but her health had complicated in recent weeks. It is believed that the northern white rhinos are on the brink of extinction due to poaching. We know of the existence of only three copies worldwide, all elderly, which live within a Kenyan reserve.
