Second Russian pilot shot down by Turkey is "safe"

«The operation was successfully completed. The pilot was taken to our base, safe and sound,» Shoigu stated as quoted by local media. At first it had been said Syrian rebels had captured the pilot who survived the attack of the Turkish forces. According to Russia, the deceased pilot parachuted when the Su-24 was hit by a missile, but was shot dead on the ground during the descent. Moscow has at all times denied that the bomber Su-24 had violated Turkish airspace, although that argument would justify Turkey’s action.
