Fukushima protective wall is cracked and tilted
Because of the slope, a crack of about 500 meters long and one centimeter wide has appeared on the base of the wall. TEPCO representatives ensure that its effectiveness is not affected by this circumstance. The construction of the wall, about 780 meters long and 30 meters underground, lasted from 2012 until last October.
The protective wall built in Fukushima to prevent radioactive leaks into the ocean has tilted 20cm. The water pressure on the underside of the steel wall causes the tilt.
