Obama takes distance from Erdogan at G20 summit: targets Islamic State not Assad

Obama also qualified the attacks “as an attack on the civilized world”. Turkish president Erdogán stated that the G20 summit will result in a “strong message” against terrorism. However, there will be no agreement between world powers over what to do with Assad and Russia in Syria.

«The skies have been darkened by the horrific attacks that took place in Paris,» stated Obama at the G20 summit, during a meeting with Turkey’s president, after the Security Council.  Erdogán did not receive support to redouble efforts agains Assad.
