According to a new report by Human Rights Watch, Bahrain tortured detainees in the years after the protests of 2011, even after the government promised to end such abuses.

The report’s findings are based on the interviews of 14 detainees who claim to have suffered physical abuse. Some of them claim to have been subjected to electric shocks and sexual abuse. In 2011, Bahrain registered major disturbances of the Shiite majority that demanded the Sunni monarchy ruling the country for more political freedom.
